One-minute silent prayer!

In honor of those perished in wars and in hope of lasting peace, let us observe a one-minute silent tribute following the scheduled siren listed below.

○ A-bomb Day in Hiroshima Date/Time:6 August (Thu), 0815 

○ A-bomb Day in Nagasaki Date/Time: 9 August (Sun), 1102 

○ Bomb Day around Iwakuni train station Date/Time: 14 August (Fri), 1115 (Siren is heard in Iwakuni area only)

○ Memorial service for war dead/victims at Iwakuni train station
  Date/Time: 14 August (Fri), 1115-
  Place: West gate plaza, Iwakuni train station
※ Marifu Community Center for a rainy day.

Disaster Preparedness Seminar for Foreign Residents

Who’s eligible?: Foreign residents in Iwakuni
Date/Time: 22 Aug (Sat),  0900- 1215
Place: Iwakuni Fire and Disaster Prevention Center
※Those who plan to use a free shuttle bus service have to be at the city hall by 0840.
Capacity: 20 people o/s(FCFS)
Content:
Talk on Disaster Prevention, Earthquake Simulator, Firefighting simulator, etc. (English translation available)
Registration period: Through 17 August (Mon)

Free entrance fee/admission to Kintaikyo bridge and other facilities for elementary schoolers

Entrance fee/admission to 6 facilities including Kintaikyo bridge will be free during August.

Who’s eligible?: Elementary school students

Date/Time: August 1 (Sat) – 31 (Mon)

Subject Facilities:  Kintaikyo bridge, Iwakuni Castle, Iwakuni Castle Ropeway, Iwakuni White Snake Museum,Kikkawa Archive, Iwakuni Art Museum

Riddle Solving Game-“Iwakuni Quest”

Let’s embark on a quest starting from the Kintaikyo bridge. To those who have solved all riddles and applied for a gift will get a gorgeous prize in a drawing.

Date/Time: 1 August (Sat) – 30 November (Mon)

Content:
Purchase a set ticket (Kintaikyo-Iwakuni Castle Ropwary-Iwakuni Castle) at the cashier booth at the bridge and visit the surrounding facilities by solving the riddles printed on a pasted board.

Fare:
Adult= 1,130yen   Child=540yen (set ticket+admission to White Snake Museum)
※ Free for elementary schoolers during August.

Youth Science Seminar 2020 Fall

● The world of small motor that moves your body

Who’s eligible?: 4th graders – high school students

※ Elementary schoolers can be accompanied by guardians.

Date/Time: 20 September (Sun),  1000 – 1600

Place: School gym, Yuu Junior high school

Capacity: 60 people

※ Resort to a drawing in case of too many applicants.

Content:
Fun learning of how living creatures move their bodies-a subject in school textbook- by doing some experiments. Also a making of stereoscopic model of Orion with a theme of “Outer Space.”

Fee: 300yen or text and materials for experiment)

What to bring?: Writing tools, lunch and drink

Registration period: 0900 ,1 August (Sat) – 5 September (Sat)
